Press release

Charles Moffett is pleased to announce the March 14 opening of its new gallery headquarters at 394 Broadway. The gallery will inaugurate the new space with a major exhibition featuring the work of 24 artists, including all 13 of the gallery’s represented artists, as well as a number of artists who have participated in Charles Moffett’s program since its founding in spring 2018. Titled Longest Way Round, the inaugural exhibition will run from March 14 - April 19, and the gallery will host an opening reception on March 14 from 6 - 8 pm.

Spanning nearly 4,000 sq. ft., the gallery’s new space occupies the entire second floor of a historic Tribeca building, originally constructed in 1864. Following a renovation by New York-based design firm Lang Architecture, Charles Moffett’s new headquarters will feature two individual galleries, offering 2,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, as well as a private viewing room, art storage room, team offices, open seating areas, and a small library. Illuminated with museum-grade lighting by Cosine, the gallery will feature warm wood floors and over 13 ft.-tall ceilings throughout.

The inaugural exhibition will feature new and recent works by artists from around the world that have shaped the gallery and guided its growth and evolution through the course of its first seven years. Spanning painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, mixed-media, and textile works, the exhibition reflects the diverse practices nurtured by the gallery’s program.  Unifying all of these artists are the profound commitment, inventive vision, and singular approach they bring to their chosen mediums — whether that be oil paints, ceramics, recycled rubber tires, textiles, or egg tempera paints — and the result is an exhibition that celebrates and showcases a wide range of artistic practices enlivening today’s contemporary visual discourse.

Following
Longest Way Round, Charles Moffett will organize a series of significant solo exhibitions at 394 Broadway. Exhibitions will include presentations of new work by artists including Keiran Brennan Hinton, Esteban Ramón Pérez, Kenny Rivero, and Lily Stockman, as well as a show of historical works by tapestry weaver Silvia Heyden (19217 - 2015).

The gallery at 394 Broadway will be open regularly on Tuesday - Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm, and otherwise by appointment.
