Overview
"As I get older, I think more about growing up. My childhood included some of the happiest times of my life, so I reflect on those and put them onto the canvas - and I think that people who grew up around that same time, in the 1970s and '80s, can appreciate it." - Keith Jackson
Keith Jackson (b. 1966, Essex, Missouri; lives and works in Kenosha, Wisconsin). A self-taught artist, Jackson worked as a building contractor for most of his life up until the last few years when he began his full time to his painting practice. Working in brightly-hued oil paint applied either on canvas or linen, Jackson's figurative paintings capture the simultaneously profound yet every-day memories of his childhood growing up in Essex in the 1970s. Jackson's first solo exhibition with the gallery, and his first in New York, will open in fall 2024.

Keith Jackson (b. 1966, Essex, Missouri) lives and works in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Working as a general contractor for most of his life, it’s in the last few years that Jackson began self-identifying as an artist and devoting his full time to his painting practice. In that time, Jackson completed the renowned Skowhegan Residency (summer 2022), had a solo exhibition at Steven Zevitas in Boston, MA (fall 2021), and participated in a group exhibition at Harper’s Los Angeles (spring 2022). Working in brightly-hued oil paint applied either on canvas or linen, Jackson’s figurative paintings capture the simultaneously profound yet every-day memories of his childhood growing up in Essex in the 1970s.
